Remember when Joe Biden said he didn’t talk with his son about his business?
Well, his son’s “business” right at the moment is trying to pitch his new book, a “memoir” entitled “Beautiful Things.”
Guess who plugged his son’s book during his featured pre-Super Bowl interview on CBS, guaranteed to have a lot more people watching it because of the game? You guessed it. Joe Biden.
“The honesty with which he stepped forward and talked about the problem,” Pres. Biden says of his son Hunter’s memoir on his struggles with addiction, “it gave me hope.”
“It was like my boy’s back,” Pres. Biden tells us.

“I bet there’s not a family you know who doesn’t have somebody in the family that had a drug problem, or an alcohol problem,” Biden declared. “But the honesty with which he stepped forward and talked about the problem and the hope that, it gave me hope reading it. I mean, it was like my boy is back, you know what I mean? Anyway, I’m sorry to get so personal.”
Nice sneaking the book in there, Joe. But if you actually believe it and/or have communication with your son, wouldn’t you already know where he was at (without having to read it in his book)? And, sorry, but thinking if he’s talking about honesty, he’s really not talking about his son and hasn’t seen (or wants people to ignore) the laptop pictures. Imagine if President Donald Trump had done that about a book by Don, Jr. You’d be hearing them calling it another reason for impeachment.
According to the Washington Examiner, the Biden team claimed the Biden family would sign a code of conduct to avoid conflicts of interest. “My son, my family, will not be involved in any business, any enterprise that is in conflict with or appears to be in conflict, where there’s appropriate distance from the presidency and government,” Biden said in December according to the Washington Examiner. Except apparently, enterprises plugged in Biden’s interviews.
This isn’t even the first conflict problem over Hunter which Biden has had. When the news confirmed in December that Hunter was under investigation by the FBI, the Biden transition team which had screamed for taxpayer money, then issued a defense statement for Hunter, as we reported.

Even Walter Shaub, the former head of the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) during Obama/Biden, saw the problem with Biden’s plugging his son’s book and tweeted, “It is not acceptable for the President of the United States to be part of the book promotion tour. No.” When you get torched by your own guy, you know it’s not good.
He later deleted the tweet but not before the Washington Examiner saw it, likely getting Democratic backlash for what he said.
But Shaub added the president’s comments regarding the memoir, Beautiful Things, were ethically compromised. There appears to have been other tweets by Shaub in the past 24 hours knocking Biden for the comments about his son’s book, but they were also erased.
Too bad he couldn’t stand by his principles and leave his tweets in place.
But it reveals once again, the conflicts of interest that are going to continue with Joe Biden.
