Jen Psaki’s Response to Mark Cuban Refusing to Play the Anthem Before Games Will Disgust You

Dallas Maverick’s owner Mark Cuban made the decision to stop playing the National Anthem before his team’s home games indefinitely, causing massive amounts of uproar in America.

What does President Joe Biden think about it? According to Press Secretary Jen Psaki, America hasn’t lived up to its highest ideals and so ditching the anthem before events is totally okay.

Fox News’s Steve Doocy asked Psaki during the daily press briefing about what Biden thought about the entire debacle. Psaki admitted that she’d not discussed this with Biden just yet, but reiterated that Biden totally loves America but that he understands why Cuban would make this move.

First of all, what does President Biden think about the Dallas Mavericks’ owner, Mark Cuban, deciding to indefinitely stop playing the national anthem before his National Basketball Association games?” asked Doocy.

“Well, I haven’t spoken with the president about the decision by Mark Cuban on the Dallas Mavericks — or the, I should say, the national anthem — but I know he’s incredibly proud to be an American and has great respect for the anthem and all that it represents, especially for our men and women serving in uniform around the world,” Psaki responded.

“He’d also say that, of course, that part of the — that pride in our country means recognizing moments where we as a country haven’t lived up to our highest ideals, which is often and at times what people are speaking to when they take action at sporting events. And it means respecting the right of people, granted to them in the Constitution, to peacefully protest. That’s why he ran for president in the first place, and that’s what he’s focused on doing every day.”

Psaki is correct about the fact that protest can take many forms and that Cuban is well within his right not to play the anthem before his team’s sporting events. The Mavericks are, after all, a privately owned business.

However, the issue here is that Biden, who leads the entire country, seems to be more okay with social acts against the country than actual displays of patriotism. The leader of the free world is well within wisdom to acknowledge that America isn’t perfect but to effectively stand back and allow people to show a blatant disrespect toward it should be something that Biden responds negatively to. Mind you, I’m not calling for Biden to make it illegal not to play the anthem, nor do I see anyone else on the right doing this, but it’s still not healthy for the country for Biden to smile on this kind of protest no matter how peaceful.

If a player on a team began bad-mouthing his teammates and refused to speak highly of the team or even cheer for it, the coach of the team would not sit back and tell everyone else that what he’s doing is good for the team. It’s demoralizing and if the coach agrees then other members of the team may find themselves wondering why they worked so hard to make the team better in the first place. If Biden is America’s coach, then he’s not being a very good one.

It should be Biden’s priority to make sure that America and its people are lifted up and enthusiastic about their country and being a part of it, not told they or their ancestors have made mistakes and therefore should have backs turned on them before and after being lectured endlessly about sins they likely never committed. American’s should take pride in their great country which has accomplished more socially and technologically than any other country in history.

Biden should take more pride in it too.
