The Newtown County Missouri Commission enacted a Second Amendment Preservation Act. This Act moves to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms, and restricts any enactment of laws, orders, or dictates from local or federal authorities which would seek to infringe upon that right.

The concisely written law states, in part:
“Newton County Missouri declares that it must be the duty of the courts and law enforcement agencies to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms and that no person, including a public officer or county employee of this county or any political subdivision of this county, can have authority to enforce or attempt to enforce any federal laws, orders, or rules infringing on the right to keep and bear arms;

“Be it enacted by the Newton County Missouri Commission as follows: All federal acts, laws, orders, rules, and regulations passed by the Federal Government and specifically any Presidential Administration whether past, present, or future, which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and Article I, Section 23 of the Missouri Constitution shall be invalid in the county, shall not be recognized by this county, and specifically rejected by this county, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this county.”
This is a Red line.
As I wrote earlier this month,
“Whether through incremental gains, lawsuits, or constitutional changes, it will be up to the States to continue to hold the line against a Biden administration’s gun-grabbing agenda.

Daniel Horowitz on The Blaze made it even plainer:
“What is our recourse when our own government criminalizes our most basic rights while it allows Black Lives Matter and Antifa to rampage through our streets with impunity? Is there no Plan B when the federal or state governments treat all conservatives like terrorists, business owners like pariahs, and those who yearn to breathe unmasked air like murderers? Well, one Missouri county is demonstrating the importance of sheriffs and county officials returning to self-government and interposing between the governmental usurpers and the most sacred rights of the people.”
Bravo to the Newtown County Missouri Commission on identifying who the true threat is. It is not law-abiding citizens who simply want to exercise their 2A rights that are the problem—but this is the narrative being played out by the Democrat Left and the Biden administration as an outgrowth of the January 6 unrest. Newtown County has recognized this, and they are holding the line.
Other states need to follow suit.
It has been said a number of times over the years, but I believe it is now a critically urgent message: Our Second Amendment rights are truly under siege. Act accordingly.
