New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went too far when she accused Texas Senator Ted Cruz of trying to have her murdered when it seemed they would have a moment of unity over Robinhood shutting down purchasing of the GME stock.

Cruz tweeted to AOC that he agreed with her that an investigation of the app company needed to take place to which AOC responded with the allegation that Cruz attempted to have her murdered, referring to the riot at the Capitol on January 6.

“I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out,” tweeted AOC. “Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign.”

According to the Daily Wire, 13 GOP lawmakers have written a joint letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, demanding AOC apologize for such an incendiary tweet:

Thirteen Republicans in the House joined Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) on Monday in demanding Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) apologize to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for accusing him of “trying to get me killed.”

The 13 House members sent a joint letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday demanding that Ocasio-Cortez apologize for her conduct. The letter followed one Roy sent the House speaker on Friday over Ocasio-Cortez’s allegation against Cruz.

“It has come to our attention that Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent out a tweet in which she accused Senator Cruz, in essence, of attempted murder. We believe this is completely unacceptable behavior for a member of Congress to make this kind of scurrilous charge against another member, in the House or Senate, for simply engaging in speech and debate regarding electors as they interpreted the Constitution,” the Monday letter says. “We ask you to call on her to immediately apologize and retract her comments.”

The letter is signed by GOP Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado; Ted Budd and Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina; Michael Burgess, Pat Fallon, Ronny Jackson, Pete Sessions, and Randy Weber of Texas; Jeff Duncan of South Carolina; Yvette Harrell of New Mexico, Jody Hice of Georgia; Doug Lamalfa of California; and Barry Moore of Alabama.

It’s unlikely that an apology will happen. Currently, AOC is using the January 6 incident as a backdrop for sensationalization purposes. As my colleague, Bonchie, wrote on Tuesday, AOC is currently making it seem as if even the Capitol Police at the were somehow in league with the rioters, and targeting her specifically.

Knowing Pelosi, if there’s any political leverage to be gained by AOC’s wild claims, then she’ll let it ride. In fact, that AOC is giving this story nearly a month later reeks of a plan cooked up by strategists, and while there is no proof of this, it does seem that AOC is doing everything she can to keep the outrage over the riot alive.

Her sensationalization of the moment with Capitol Police as well as her claims against Cruz point to a person, and possibly a party, more concerned with a narrative than the truth.

Don’t hold your breath on that apology to Cruz.
