Ron DeSantis Goes Beast Mode on Reporter Who Asks About Maskless Super Bowl Partiers (Watch)

On Monday, Bonchie reported on how Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had a great response to the mask Karens who were upset over a photo that circulated of DeSantis sitting in what appeared to be a private suite at the Super Bowl without a mask.

“Someone said, ‘hey, you were at the Super Bowl without a mask’ … but how the hell am I going to be able to drink a beer with a mask on? Come on. I had to watch the Bucs win,” he told veteran Florida political reporter Marc Caputo.

Not surprisingly, DeSantis’ remarks triggered hypocritical CNN mask patrolman Chris Cillizza, who proclaimed in an “analysis” piece that DeSantis’ beer drinking strategy should have been different. “Fun fact: You can! Take mask down. Sip beer. Put mask back on. Repeat,” Cillizza advised, presumably with a straight face.

Because DeSantis won’t be shamed about when and when he does not wear a mask, the media switched gears during a press conference earlier today and tried another form of mask shaming with him – against Florida residents.

After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl, a lot of fans took to the streets to celebrate the victory. Some of them were not wearing masks. The videos that aired of the crowds of maskless Super Bowl partiers have been a hot topic of discussion in Florida since Sunday, with reporters asking a steady flow of questions to elected officials about whether or not it concerned them.

DeSantis was asked by a reporter today about the postgame celebrants who were crowding the streets and weren’t wearing masks. What followed was the Florida governor going beast mode:

During a question and answer period following his press conference in Venice Wednesday, DeSantis was asked if the large crowds celebrating the Bucs victory worried him, considering reports of a new variant of the virus spreading in Florida.

DeSantis suggested the reporter only cared because it fits a narrative.

“The media is worried about that, obviously,” he said. “You don’t care as much if it’s a ‘peaceful protest,’ then it’s fine. You don’t care as much if they’re celebrating a Biden election. You only care about it if it’s people you don’t like. I’m a Bucs fan. I’m damn proud of what they did.”

Simply reading the quote doesn’t do it justice. Watch DeSantis’ response below (starts at the :14 mark). Applause can be heard in the background:

The Usual Suspects on the Twitter machine declared his answer was “offensive”, “out of touch” and supposedly proved their point about how he didn’t care whether Floridians lived or died, but they are, as usual, missing the point.

Gov. DeSantis is simply – and understandably – fed up with the double standards the media have when it comes to people taking to the streets during the pandemic. If people are going to have an anti-police protest or celebrate a Democratic election victory, that’s fine to the media and few to no concerns will be raised. But if it’s something else, like a Republican political rally or a Super Bowl victory celebration, then it’s time to play the Karen card and hit the Code Red button.

DeSantis is clearly done with the game-playing and the mask-shaming. And after all that’s been said and done over the last year with the media making him the fall guy for all of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s problems despite DeSantis handling the crisis in his state much better than Cuomo has, I can’t really say as I blame him here.
